Balance, Contrast, and Repetition

About the Teacher: Mrs. Adams-Linn (Mrs. Adams for short) has been teaching art in Anderson County for the past 18 years.  She grew up in Oak Ridge and went to Lexington Kentucky to earn her Bachelor of Science degree in Art Education from Transylvania University.  While there, she met her future husband, Scott and after school, they moved back to Anderson County to get married and raise two wonderful children, Klara and Jackson.  Mrs. Adams completed her Masters Degree in Art Education from the University of Tennessee in 1998, and has recently completed an Education Specialist degree from TTU.  In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, spending time at the lake, having fun, traveling, and creating!

About the Class: In art class, Mrs. Adams gives her students a wide range of experiences with as many different materials as possible.  The goal is to learn the techniques of all the media an art class has to offer while focusing on the principles of design.  Making your artwork look good means following these principles:  Balance, contrast, and repetition.  Some of the many activities include calligraphy, the color wheel, painting with tempera, watercolors and acrylics, drawing, stitchery, printmaking, using oil pastels and chalk, clay, paper mache, and wire sculpture.
