About the Class:
Eighth grade is a very busy time and it is vital that each student gives 100% the whole year.  Having good attendance and being on time to school and class will help students do his or her very best.  Students move quickly and use every minute of our class time available.  Eighth grade Language Arts is designed into ninety minute blocks in order to further student excellence in reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, oral speaking, and listening.  These skills are utilized in many ways while studying works of literature, poetry, and quotes.  Students use their writing skills in many different forms including essays, resumes, and poetry.  Throughout the year students continually work toward mastering the state of Tennessee’s grade level standards for eighth grade.  In addition to teaching their respective subject areas, eighth grade teachers are also responsible for instilling in the students a sense of responsibility and to prepare them for their future in high school.

Mrs. Sherry Anderson - Science

About the Teacher:  Mrs. Anderson lives on a generational family farm in Dutch Valley as a descendant of one of the founding families.  She is married with one son.  They own several pets of all kinds, both domestic and exotic.  She is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, with an advanced degree in Microbiology.  She is a secondary certified teacher in Biology and Agriscience.  Currently, she teaches 6th and 8th Grade science.

About the Class:
The 8th grade science class is NOT an EASY course, it's a CHALLENGING course.  The classroom itself is very unique and is used to put students into "hands on" science.  There is book work, but there is also lab work where the students are required to do some thinking on their own.  Experiments do not always work accordingly, BUT everyone always LEARN from the experience.  Mrs. Anderson wants all her students to participate in class and their eyes opened to the wonderful world of SCIENCE.
